Pattern of Destiny: Strength
Updated: Nov 22, 2020
This will be the penultimate in the Patterns of Destiny personal (aka “soul”) cards series before we move on to exploring the Life Lessons. The Fool met the Chariot and learned about ambition and trials – that is to say, outer strength - now he learns about inner strength through the Strength card.
Standard disclaimer that if you haven’t yet, I encourage you to read the below linked introductions to this topic prior to reading the explanation of each card. (Bonus: this will also help you figure out which pattern of destiny and life lesson posts are most relevant for you!)
For more context on when or why I like using the Pattern of Destiny personality (aka "birthday") card approach, check out the first Pattern of Destiny: The Magician post.
So let’s dive in and take a closer look at the Strength card.
The Strength card is the eighth card in the Fool’s Journey. It is a card of relationships and balance, among other things.
If your Pattern of Destiny number is 8 or 17, then you have Strength as your personality (aka soul) card. What does that mean?

Strengths are…
Networkers and relationship-focused
May have a physical quality or perception of physical strength about them, but not necessarily
Have great inner perseverance and fortitude
Strengthen their bonds/relationships with others during times of adversity (“ride or die” types)
The Shadow: When out of balance, Strengths are challenged by…
Knowing when to cut the cord, such as leaving a job or relationship
Individuals whose pattern of destiny is the number 8 (aka "straight 8s"), as opposed to 17s, have Strength as both their personality and life lesson card. That is to say that these individuals may be more challenged by both the strengths and weaknesses of the Strength personality card than their 17 counterpart. For straight 8s, the Star (17) is a shadow card that still impacts them subtly but is not their prime challenge or lesson in life.
Eights are also more significant in readings for 8 and 17 Strengths as they share the same base number, 8.
Famous Strengths....
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – Strength
Usain Bolt – Strength
Nelson Mandela – Strong Star
Mark Anthony – Strong Star
Paul Newman – Strong Star
I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about the Strength personality. Stay tuned for the final pattern of personal destiny entry on The Hermit before we shift from the personality cards to take a closer look at some of the life lesson patterns.
In peace & love,
