For those relatively new to astrology, the new moon phase occurs in the same zodiac sign which the Sun occupies. Meanwhile, full moons take place in the opposing zodiac sign. In October, we will be experiencing the New Moon in Libra on the 16th.
The Libran zen balancing act.
Libra is associated with balance, diplomacy and harmony. It is a sign that likes to get along and goes out of its way to avoid conflict (which Aries, its opposite sign, thrives on!). So usually we would expect a harmonious energy when the two luminaries come together to occupy the Libra sign.
However, 2020 has proven to add a layer of complexity to most aspects throughout the year and this new moon phase proves no different. With the New Moon in Libra, it will be creating a hard aspect (square) the planets Pluto and Saturn, whose difficult energies are only expanded by their conjunction with Jupiter, all of which are still sitting tight in Capricorn until they ingress to Aquarius in December. In addition, a T-square is formed by the new moon’s opposition to Mars, which is still retrograde in Aries.

With all of the air, fire and, especially, earth going on we are clearly missing our watery, emotional heart. In our quest to find harmony while still dealing with the power dynamics of the three planets in Capricorn -- made even more challenging in aspect to a confrontational Mars moving backwards in fiery Leo -- don’t ignore or suppress your feelings and, more importantly, don’t turn off your empathy and compassion. Instead, use this new moon cycle to reflect on both what your emotional needs are, as well as the needs of those around you.
Let’s use this new phase to reflect on how to foster more positivity, harmony and resiliency to get through this rough last leg of the earth-to-air transition. And get through it we will!!
In peace & love,
