It’s that time again. Every two weeks the moon enters a significant phase which can have subtle yet powerful impacts on our psyches based on our own unique energies and how we are “hardwired”. The new moon on August 18 will be no different.
The new moon position corresponds with the sun sign for the month, while the full moon is in the opposing sign. Therefore, this month’s new moon occurs at 26 degrees of Leo. The lion. Hear Leo roar! Leo is a fire element that wants to be seen, heard and fully expressed.
Leo the Lion: I Shine!
During the new moon phase this month, Mercury – thoughts, words, communication - will be conjunct the Moon. This is a potent combination for creative energy and expression.
Not only that, but there is a lot more fire going on in the cosmos lending this Leo new moon a helping hand. The moon will be trine the South Node in Sagittarius as well as Mars in Aries. How this fire and creativity manifests in your life will be highly individualized. Nonetheless, let your inner Leo shine!
(But remember that Mars in Aries has a downside: watch your temper and words born of anger!)
So as the fire energy shifts into our consciousness during this period, let’s look at what additional insights we can glean by adding the rich imagery of the tarot into the mix.
If you don’t happen to know the Golden Dawn astrological associations in the major arcana, I’ll use this opportunity to plug the Zodiacal Constellation Tarot Spread. You can subscribe to my mailing list below to receive a free handout which includes these correspondences.
August 18, 2020 will be a Hanged Man Empress day. This is great day to take a moment to get a new perspective (Hanged Man) on a creative endeavor that you want to nurture or bring to fruition (Empress).
Additionally, the Moon (High Priestess) in Leo (Strength) will be conjunct Mercury (Magician) and trine to Mars (Tower) in Aries (Emperor). The Tower in Emperor reflects the undercurrent of 2020. However, this is a more positive aspect, so we should see a temporary easing of some of the tensions allowing us to focus on the proximity of the intuitive energy of the High Priestess and control and ability to actualize present in the Magician, both of which are in the Leo sign represented in the tarot by the bonds and inner perseverance of the Strength card.
How will you express yourself by harnessing this fiery, creative energy?
