So, to prepare for this post, I did a little bit of poking around the internets to see how rare an occurrence a full moon on Halloween is. Turns out it happens approximately every 18 to 19 years based on the Metonic cycle, meaning that most of us will likely only experience about four of these in our lives – spooky!
Not only is it a full moon on Halloween, but it is also a Blue Moon! And no, that doesn’t have anything to do with the color of the moonlight. A Blue Moon is the special name given to the second full moon occurring in a single month. And because October has 31 days and a full moon happens every 29.5 days, then all full moons falling on Halloween have the honor of being Blue!
This time around we have a full moon in Taurus. Taurus is considered to be the best placement for the moon; its stability and level-headed, grounded energy keeps the emotional roller coaster of the moon in check. (Some good news as we head into November!)
It will also be coming conjunct with Uranus in opposition to Mercury. Unexpected + emotion + communication = looks like we’re in for a bit of a scream on Halloween! Perhaps Taurus the Bull can keep us level-headed and calm our nerves on this frightful night? 😉 Or, since Uranus is the innovator and Mercury can represent our siblings, maybe we should all be thinking of original ways to scare (err, I mean, entertain!) our brothers or sisters.
Although our Halloween traditions may look a bit different than they normally do this year, I hope that you are able to celebrate and enjoy the day in a safe and healthy manner.
(Although, I suppose it’s a bit hard to be super healthy whilst indulging in candies!)
In peace & love,
